It's a Fall Cooking Fest!

Hop on over to Jenni's blog at 'Nest To Keep' and check out the Fall Cooking Fest she is hosting for the next week! The idea is to post an entry on your blog showcasing a favorite fall recipe and then linking on Jenni's post for folks to visit yours! Oh boy am I excited to see all the yummy things that folks come up with. I'm in DIRE NEED of some new recipes to try out!

Mine is a really simple recipe that my Mom made us for brunch or "breakfast for dinner nights" for as long as I can remember! The first time she made it for Jason he kind of hem hawed around it and didn't want to bust out of his shell and try it. My Dad even pestered him and told him it was for 'girly luncheons', further making him NOT want to try it! MEN!!! The girls eventually won and he delved in and has never turned back. He's been converted. He LOVES it!

Quiche Lorraine

1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
1 cup whipping cream
3 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
dash of pepper
1 frozen uncooked pie shell
(10 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled can be added, too, along with many other things~ broccoli, ham, spinach, sausage...)

Sprinkle cheese in pie shell.
Mix all other ingredients and pour over cheese.
Bake at 350 for 35-45 mins.

* And, the note on the back of the recipe card my Mom gave me? She wrote, "Even real men like this quiche!" Too funny!!! Hope you like it, too!

HAPPY FALL Y'ALL! XO

My Baby Boy Is Growing Up!

Bryce had his 1st sleepover party last night! Now, he spent the night with Marcy and fam (Caroline's Godparents) the night before Miss Priss was born ~so that was his 'official' first sleepover; but this was his 1st 'party' sleepover with a slew of classmates at Zach's house! Zach's family is wonderful and super fun so I knew he'd be very safe and have a BLAST! It still didn't stop me from missing my little buddy and being sad that he's growing up so quickly though... Zach's fam is the family that Bryce and I flew to meet in Florida for a week of FUN IN THE SUN (and some rain, too, right Kim?!?) when Jason was deployed in the summer of 2006. I can't wait to talk to Kim today as I'm sure she has funny stories for me! Scott looked SO TIRED when I picked Bryce up at 9am, right in the middle of a tremendous downpour from all the rains moving this way from Ike.

My buddy all ready to head over to Zach's house, aka Party Central, last night!

Stealing a smooch from his baby sis before he left...

And this is what Bryce is doing RIGHT NOW, as I type this very comment! And he said he wasn't tired and didn't need to lay down. Right!!!

Happy Day After Your Birthday Zach! We Hope You Have A Great Time Being 9! XO

Ta Da...

...Black doors and new satin nickel hinges and handles! I called my girlfriend, Jeni, tonight and promised her I'd show some pics! So, Jeni~ here are some just for you hun! We still need to touch up and to paint the interior of the exterior doors (that's a tongue twister, say that 3 times fast!) but we're getting there. Slow and steady wins the race with a pre-toddler moving about and into everything. Can't you just imagine? If we weren't moving slow, it could lead to a post on black handprints on our: couches, windows, door trim, beds, clothes... So you can see why we're moving slow, taking our time, and doing it bit by bit in the garage. It's all in the name of keeping the house safe from those black paint handprints she would for sure be depositing everywhere!!! ;)

A few doors in the upstairs hallway... (Bryce's room is the one with the door open)

The boys bathroom. I think the black doors look really neat against all the things in our house. My girlfriend, Marcy, had the idea to paint our banister black , too! That is our new 'next project'. Fun, fun, fun!!! Happy almost the weekend everyone! XO

It's here, IT'S HERE!!!

Bust out the pumpkins, blackbirds, browns and oranges, mums, hotdogs and smores....YEA!

A shot of the jelly cabinet in the dining room.

Boo to you!
The teeny pumpkins might just be one of my fav fall decs~ Nice and simple!

And look...this nifty fun little goody box was waiting for us when we got home from picking Bryce up at school today! What an awesome surprise and a GREAT kick off to fall! It was from our little pumpkin elves~ aka Caroline's Godmother, Marcy, and two of her sweet kiddos and Bryce's buddies, Tierney and Blake. Thanks guys! We love it ALL!

And, as if this wasn't enough...Miss Priss and I went to Marcy's house for a visit yesterday morning and were SPOILED ROTTEN with: quiche, fruit salad and dip, ooey gooey bread, cookies, and Caroline's favorite thing of all??? CANDY CORN! She was a hoot at Marcy's house. She LOVED Sally the dog and Sally LOVED Caroline. Those two were something else to watch. After getting her fix of Sally lovin' Miss Priss decided she needed to check out Marcy's kitchen cabinets.

She was having a grand ole time opening and closing them but was being very good and not taking anything out. That is, until she saw the bag of CANDY CORN! Then she let us know that that was what she wanted, needed, craved! Oh boy. This is because Bryce decided he needed to share some candy corn with her the other day, and the rest is history. So you can imagine how excited Caroline was when we checked out what was in the Halloween goody box today....CANDY CORN was one of the pressies! Marcy~ you guys ROCK!!! We luv ya!!! XO

Funny Baby Of Ours!

At dinner the other night, little miss put her hands together for the first time. Precious!

Jas was issued a new pair of 'Mickey Mouse Ears' (as the AF nicknames them) for his new job. Caroline thought they were a hoot. We thought she was a hoot trying them out!

I am loving those chubby cheekers in the side shot! She's a mess!

She was singing in the rain...
Since Daddy is on a trip, the evenings can tend to drag on a bit. So, I try to drag out bath time to keep my little hot mess entertained and having fun! We drained the tub and tried out some fun in the rain.....I mean shower. My crazy girl insisted on a paci accompanying her to bathtime the other night, too. Oh my! But, the rain/shower time was a big hit! XO
